Why We Love Silk Chiffon

It happens when two silkworms decide, for reasons known only to the silkworms heart, to spin their cocoons together. From this silken union comes a fabric with a luxurious feel and a fascinating, iridescent look.
I've been asked why I chose silk chiffon as the fabric for the LuLuwrap. At first glance, the LuLuwrap may seem like any other scarf wrap. However on closer inspection one can see that it is made of silk chiffon and not just another simple fabric; we chose silk chiffon for its beauty as well as durability and drapeability .
Silk chiffon fabric is a one kind of texture that is light, transparent and soft to the touch. It’s the ultimate luxurious fabric, that every flowing movement is like a dance. Silk chiffon conjures up images of a ballerina twirling across the stage, a trapeze artist flying through the air or a sexy woman slinking her way through the party.
For hundreds of years, silk has held the position of the Queen of Textiles." It’s lustrous, strong, soft, and supple and its flowing nature and shimmery texture have a way of hiding body flaws. It has a shine and radiates color like no other fabric. Silk is an excellent fabric for creating a beautiful drape and it’s one of the most comfortable fabrics that you can wear because it keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Silk is a natural fiber that’s hypoallergenic, mildew and wrinkle-resistant. Silk does not require the use of pesticides or fertilizers to grow. It’s biodegradable, breathable, and has a luxurious feel.
It’s been found that silk fabric can also contribute to your health and well-being. Because it’s a natural fiber it has an especially high electromagnetic charge. This can enhance your spiritual development by amplifying energies that flow within. Many yogis wear garments of silk, because it is particularly good at tuning into and holding a vibration, and the wearing of silk is like stepping into a sacred space.
Why do we love silk? Silk chiffon’s signature style is soft, natural, diaphanous and lightweight. It gives a sensation that can be described as floating - completely without stiffness. While wearing it you feel sensual, feminine and beautiful. The fabric follows your every move and you look free, easy and graceful. When you want the best, silk chiffon is definitely the right choice.
How to Clean your LuLuwrap
Since silk is delicate you want to clean it with care. Dry cleaning is recommended but you can still wash your silk, just follow this method.
Hand wash in lukewarm water. Add a capful of mild liquid detergent. Swish the water and detergent until suds appear. Add the LuLuwrap and swirl it around in the water with your hands to clean it. Some dye might be released into the water, this will not affect how your LuLuwrap looks. Soak for 30 minutes. Rinse in a bowl of clean water or under running water. Keep rinsing until all soup bubbles disappear. Do not wring the fabric. Place it flat on a towel. Put a second towel on top of the chiffon and push down to press out excess water. Remove towel and let dry
